Saco River Sailing was founded in 2017, with the mission of providing boat tours along the Saco River to Camp Ellis and Biddeford Pool. Aside from a commitment to an excellent experience, Saco River Sailing was founded with a staunch dedication to sustainable, renewable, and green energy. Our fully electric, 12 passenger tour boat will be launched in the summer of 2020, and will be charged exclusively with solar energy.
Saco River Sailing is a family business, founded by Sean Tarpey and his son, Matthew. Sean has owned Rumerys boatyard since 1998, and both he and Matt grew up on the water. The concept of a sustainable boat touring provider stemmed from their mutual desire to protect the environment from the scourge of climate change.
After doing their research, Sean and Matt decided to begin a working relationship with Torqeedo, a company that provides top of the line electric boat motors. Their electric tour boat will be equipped with a Torqeedo 10.0 pod motor, and all Torqeedo motors and products are available to purchase on site at Rumery's boatyard.

To open the season in 2020, we will be launching or fully electric river launch, capable of carrying 12 passengers on a quiet, smooth, emissions free ride.
